Voodoo Fishin' Guide

Every trader and shop in the bayou

Quick answer

Fish go to the mongers, junk goes to Rusty Remy, spare tackle goes to the Pawn Shop, gear comes from the Tackle Shop, and enchantments come from Auntie Brigitte.

There are five counters worth knowing in Voodoo Fishin', and each one solves a different problem: the fish mongers pay for what you catch, Rusty Remy takes the junk, Dealin' Delores buys and resells tackle, the Tackle Shop sells you the upgrades, and Auntie Brigitte turns bait into something better. Knowing which counter handles which item is the difference between a profitable night and a cooler full of things you cannot sell.

Two mongers means two reward lists. Each runs its own Quota meter and offers a different reward, and the interface lets you preview both before your crew picks a target — so the correct routine at the start of a session is to look at both offers before anyone sells anything.

The Pawn Shop is more useful than it sounds

Dealin' Delores does two things that matter. She buys the rods, reels and bait you have outgrown, which turns a drawer full of starter gear into cash. More interestingly, her inventory is built from the current session: tackle that players sold to her appears in her shop, and tackle permanently lost when a player died goes into her trays. That means the rod you lost to a monster last trip might be sitting on her shelf for sale. In a long session, checking her stock after a bad death is worth the walk.

Junk only sells in one place

Non-fish items are not the monger's business. Junk, loot-container contents and similar odds and ends go to Rusty Remy's raft, which is the reason junk is not dead weight in your cooler. Some junk doubles as an indicator of the local habitat, which makes selling all of it immediately a slightly hasty decision when you are exploring somewhere new. Remy also sells items back, and the shop as a whole was described by the developers as a way to streamline the old enchantment flow.

Shopping habits that save money

  • Preview both mongers' Quota rewards before committing a session's fish to one counter.
  • Check the shop stock before selling. Rod stock is random, and re-roll prices climb and cap after six rolls, with one free re-roll available. Buy when the stock is right rather than rolling repeatedly out of frustration.
  • Keep junk for enchanting if you have a recipe in mind, and sell the rest — it takes up cooler space that fish want.
  • Enemies will not attack you inside a shop. If something is hunting you and a counter is close, the shop is a genuine hiding place rather than a menu you are stuck in.
  • Sell before you explore. A cooler full of fish is a liability the moment you walk into monster territory, and the tackle loss page explains exactly what drops when you die.

If you are still deciding what to buy first, the rod guide covers the three stats in the shop and the money page covers which of these counters pays best in your first hours.
