Voodoo Fishin' fish list
The game groups its catch into 18 species, and every species has multiple variants across the Common to Legendary ladder, with Voodoo fish as their own tier.
Voodoo Fishin' groups its catch by species, and the species names are the official ones from the game's achievement list — long Latin-sounding binomials that the journal uses and players immediately shorten into nicknames. There are eighteen species in total, and each species contains multiple variants. The completionist achievements are per species ("catch all" that species), so filling the journal means chasing variants, not ticking off one fish per name.

The last two arrived with the 1.0 update, which added twelve new fish in total. The developers described the flounder as a species that is flat as a pancake with limited vision, and the sauger as haunting the murkiest water with big glassy eyes and a squint, which is also where the binomial names come from.
Rarity is per variant, not per species
The Journal tracks rarity on the Common → Rare → Epic → Legendary ladder, and Voodoo fish sit outside it as their own class. Because a species' variants spread across rarity tiers, a "catch all" achievement is effectively a rarity sweep within one family — a crayfish family will contain common variants and variants that only show up on specific bait, depth and habitat combinations. That is why the journal's per-fish page matters more than the species list: depth, bait tags and habitat icons are the three dials that decide whether a variant is possible where you stand.
Voodoo fish
Voodoo fish are their own tier and require Voodoo bait, which comes from enchanting at Auntie Brigitte's pot. A developer reply confirmed every Voodoo fish is catchable — it is a matter of the right enchanted bait and water. Players chasing them also describe the fast route: some baits attract only the rarest fish until a Voodoo fish takes the hook, which is a good signal that you are in the right place.
Names players use that are not official
Community posts and screenshot captions give a second vocabulary that the game itself never uses in its achievement list: Red Po Boy (an uncommon crayfish variant), Trapper Keeper, Firebelly, Green Mason, Bubbahead, Old Flats, Rainbow Baba, Golden Papermouth, Voodoo Puglet, and "swamp dogs" for the junk fish nobody wants. Treat those as player shorthand — useful for reading other anglers, but the journal is the list that counts. One species worth knowing by reputation: players have reported the Green Mason fighting far beyond its apparent strength, and a thread about it being resistant to an elite rod exists for a reason.
Every species is guaranteed somewhere in the world — a Fish Population update made sure at least one of each spawns, so journal completion is about finding and catching, not lobby luck. The habitat page teaches you to read water by eye, and the journal guide explains the per-fish page in detail.
